Since 2015, Jakartans have been able to experience a different kind of entertainment in town: musical shows thanks to Ciputra Artpreneur, which opened the doors by providing stellar musical performances starting with Beauty and the Beast, Shrek: The Musical as well as Annie, all of which are played at its grand venue.
After the English Reformation, the theatre scene in London began to flourish extending to the West End district where many small theatres and halls saw constructions during the 18th century. Comprising more than 40 venues, “Theatreland” is located in the heart of London’s West End and has been the home to illustrious long-running shows, such as Les Misérables, Cats, The Phantom of the Opera and Wicked, among countless others.
Now, for the first time, Ciputra Artpreneur is inviting four lead pioneers from the West End of London to perform under one roof in a musical-in-concert aptly titled, Stars of the West End. The concert will see Mike Sterling, Shona Lindsay, Tom Solomon and Maya Barredo-Duffy serenading audience with popular songs from Les Misérables, Cats, The Phantom of the Opera, Miss Saigon, Mamma Mia!, and many more.
Produced by the British Theatre Playhouse and Worldwide Entertainment, each of the stars has earned numerous accolades ranging from the Tony Awards, the Drama Desk Award, the Theatre World Award and the Voice of Musical Theater from BBC. With that much prestige and laudation, the upcoming performance is guaranteed to appeal to a wide-range of audience, whether they are old-time musical lovers or newcomers.
During the Stars of the West End press conference, Mrs Rina Ciputra Sastrawinata, who serves as the President Director of Ciputra Artpreneur, shared her excitement on the upcoming concert, emphasising the line-up songs. “I am sure that musical lovers of all ages will be familiar with the line-up songs that will be performed by the four talented West End artists. As songs are the souls to musicals, I am certain the audience will experience blissful déjà vu moments when they listened to them again.”
Mike Sterling has played The Phantom from Phantom of the Opera for countless times over his 30-year career, while Shona Lindsay is the youngest performer to play Christine from Phantom of the Opera. The winner of BBC’s Voice of Musical Theater, Tom Solomon, will be joined by Filipino Maya Barredo-Duffy who is known for her role as Kim in Miss Saigon.
